Launching an Inspired Business
Launching an Inspired Business

In July of 1969 I was 13 years old, standing in my side yard looking up sure that I could see Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walking on the moon’s surface. The moon, an impossible distance away, had moved a little closer to the earth that warm clear night.
What could not be done only a day before was now possible; in fact, it seemed to me that anything was possible. It wasn’t until years later that I realized there was an entire team on earth behind the 3-man Apollo 11 mission. Even after lift-off there was constant coaching from “Houston” to Michael Collins the third man on board the command module.
Dwight D. Eisenhower started the US Moon Exploration Program and John F. Kennedy gave us the vision to land men on the moon. Highly skilled teams of inspired men and women, worked for almost 10 years from the time a US unmanned mission landed on the moon until a courageous Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon’s surface and stated, "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind."
Forty two years later I find myself marveling at the courage of business owners and leaders, who during a terrible downturn in the economy have the vision of a business that will grow.
As amazing as the Apollo 11 mission was, Buzz, Neil and Michael couldn’t have done it without a team and inspired vision. To inspire your team, share your vision with them and include your team in strategic and tactical planning. Sharing your vision shows trust and confidence in the team that supports you. With inspiration, a team will align their skills and minds to blast through the barriers holding back your business. An inspired team will set their personal goals aside for the goals of the team.
Business goals that seem an impossible distance away, race closer quickly when an inspired team is aligned by an uncommon leader toward a common vision.
"Volunteering is so pervasive it's invisible. We take for granted all the things that have been pioneered by concerned, active volunteers."
